Fixed Based Operator (FBO)

FBO stands for Fixed-Base Operator. It is a private aviation facility at an airport that provides services and amenities for private aircraft, passengers and crews.

FBO charges vary by airport, operator and the services used. Costs may include aircraft handling, parking, hangar space, passenger services and other ground support. Fuel purchases may also be subject to separate pricing, fees or minimums.

FBOs primarily serve private aircraft owners, charter operators, corporate flight departments and their passengers. Access policies vary by facility, but passengers traveling on private aircraft can generally use the FBO associated with their flight.

FBOs provide the infrastructure that allows private aircraft to operate efficiently on the ground. They combine aircraft handling, fueling, passenger facilities and other services in one location, helping reduce turnaround time and improve the overall travel experience.

Scheduled commercial airlines generally operate through dedicated airline terminals rather than FBOs. However, private aircraft, business aviation operators and some specialized aviation operations use FBO facilities.

Services vary by facility but commonly include aircraft fueling, parking, ground handling, passenger lounges, catering, concierge services, ground transportation, aircraft cleaning and crew facilities. Some FBOs also offer hangar space, maintenance coordination and international customs support.
